Most people imagine a height-adjustable desk in an office. It makes it possible to alternate between working while sitting and standing, thereby reducing prolonged sitting in one position. High Load Capacity Is the Most Important Feature

GROW UP 1 QUATRO is an electrically height-adjustable desk frame with four columns. Its maximum load capacity is up to 240 kg, including the tabletop.

“Quatro means that it has four legs. We created this desk because it has a high load capacity, which is its most important feature. Thanks to this, it can also be used in industrial environments. In industrial halls, laboratories and research centres. Laboratory equipment can be placed on it, and it can be used as a work surface for technical education. 240 kilograms is really a lot.

Load capacity is essential; that is what makes it particularly interesting. But it is also height-adjustable,” he points out.

The standard GROW UP 1 frame uses two height-adjustable columns and offers a load capacity of 120 kg.

The QUATRO version provides up to twice the load capacity and therefore a more stable base for a larger work surface.

“The higher load capacity expands the possibilities for using the desk wherever the work surface must safely support expensive instruments, technical equipment or other heavy items. Four synchronously adjustable columns distribute the load across the entire structure and ensure high stability even when the working height is changed,” explains the company owner.

A More Comfortable Working Position Reduces Unnecessary Bending

In offices, laboratories, workshops, development centres and technical facilities, employees spend a considerable part of the day at their desks. However, a fixed working height may not suit every user or every task being performed. A worker needs one position when precisely inspecting an instrument and another when assembling, measuring or working on a computer.

“The workbench must therefore provide the necessary load capacity and stability. GROW UP 1 QUATRO creates a robust base.

It can be equipped with a tabletop, storage pedestals and other accessories according to the requirements of a particular laboratory. Height adjustment also makes it possible to create a workstation that can be used by several people or to alternate between sitting and standing without having to move the equipment,” explains the owner of ALUPRESS DESIGN.

“It is widely used in development laboratories. They have various instruments on it. Or in specialised classrooms, where they have instruments for demonstrations. And those 240 kilograms are a lot and allow for a wide range of applications,” he adds.

Applications in Schools and Technical Facilities

GROW UP 1 QUATRO can be used in schools, universities and specialised classrooms.

“For example, as a demonstration workstation for a teacher, a laboratory table, a work surface for technical education, a desk for measuring and teaching equipment, a workstation in a computer or multimedia classroom, or a shared table for students’ practical projects,” Václav Szaban lists.

The large work surface allows both technical equipment and teaching aids to be placed on a single desk.

“The height can be adapted to the type of teaching, the individual user or working while sitting and standing. The structure is also suitable for situations where one desk is used by several teachers or students of different heights,” he points out.

The desk’s high load capacity is also an advantage in technical facilities, workshops and the automotive industry.

“In technical facilities, tools, components, measuring instruments, monitors or assembly equipment are placed on the work surface. When designing a workstation, it is therefore necessary to take into account both the current load and its possible future increase. A load capacity of up to 240 kilograms provides sufficient reserve capacity for more demanding equipment.

The structure is suitable for development and inspection workstations, light assembly operations, technical laboratories or specialised workstations in the automotive industry,” says the owner of ALUPRESS DESIGN.

“The advantage is the possibility of adjusting the working height according to the specific operation. Precision inspection can be carried out in a different position from assembly or handling a larger product,” he explains.

GROW UP 1 QUATRO is designed for desks with a width of 1200 to 2000 mm and a depth of 1000 mm.

“Such a surface provides enough space for technical equipment, several monitors, documentation and other accessories. It can therefore also be used in the offices of engineers, designers, architects or employees who need a larger work surface than an ordinary office desk,” says Václav Szaban.

“The minimalist technical design allows the frame to be integrated not only into a laboratory or workshop, but also into a modern office.

It is available in white, black and silver RAL 9006,” he adds.

What type of tabletop should be used?

“For the standard version, we recommend a laminated particleboard tabletop with a thickness of 18 to 25 mm.

If a tabletop made from another material, with a different thickness or larger dimensions is to be used, the complete configuration needs to be designed according to the specific load and intended use,” explains the company owner.

It is not only the weight of the tabletop itself that needs to be considered.

“The arrangement of the instruments, their total weight, the position of the centre of gravity and any concentrated loads on the work surface are also important,” he adds.

ALUPRESS DESIGN also specialises in custom-made and non-standard solutions.

According to him, GROW UP 1 QUATRO provides greater stability, twice the load capacity of the basic GROW UP 1 model, the possibility of using a larger tabletop, ergonomic adjustment even under heavy loads, and greater reserve capacity for future workstation additions.

Every laboratory, specialised classroom or technical workplace has different requirements. In some cases, the priority is a large work surface; in others, it is high load capacity, space for storage pedestals or precise positioning of instruments.
