About project

The Jíídelna at the PLAZA Liberec shopping center represents a completely new concept in public dining, combining modern design with maximum accessibility for the general public. The goal of the project was to create a space where guests would feel at ease and comfortable, all while maintaining the most affordable prices possible.

In designing the interior, emphasis was placed on creating an atmosphere that goes beyond the usual standard of food courts in shopping centers. The result is a space that feels more like a modern restaurant than a typical food court—with an emphasis on high-quality materials, thoughtful lighting, and details that together create a harmonious and pleasant whole.

Challenge

The main challenge of the project was to strike a balance between high-quality, sophisticated design and economic sustainability. The restaurant operator wanted to create a space that would be visually appealing while also being able to withstand the intense daily traffic of a busy shopping center.

Specific requirements for the restaurant equipment, kitchen, and furniture included high durability while maintaining aesthetic quality, ease of maintenance and cleaning in an environment with high guest turnover, visual consistency throughout the space despite the use of different types of seating, and the ability of the furniture to highlight the overall interior design concept.

Solution

ALUPRESS manufactured and supplied a complete range of commercial kitchen equipment, table and seating furniture, partition screens, serving counters, and display cases, which were designed by the architect to meet the project’s demanding requirements while creating a visually appealing environment for guests.

The Concept of Interconnected Zones

The dining room’s interior has been visually divided into several zones that complement one another and offer guests a variety of experiences. The main dining zone features light beech wood furniture, which lends the space an airy feel and natural elegance. The simple, clean lines of the chairs, combined with square tables on solid metal bases, create a modern and welcoming atmosphere.

The more intimate area offers a contrasting atmosphere thanks to its dark walnut furniture. This section is located by the glass facade overlooking the surrounding buildings and creates a more intimate, sophisticated environment for guests who prefer a quieter atmosphere.
The most important part, however, takes place in the interesting interconnection between the dining area, the serving area, and the kitchen itself, where customers can watch the entire meal preparation process firsthand, carried out by a trained team of professional chefs.
During implementation, this integration meant one thing: the need to comply with all hygiene and safety regulations to ensure a complete dining experience, while also designing and fine-tuning everything so that customers feel both comfortable and safe in this space.
The food service area—including serving counters, food service stations, and cash registers—was constructed from stainless steel combined with plywood, laminate, and dark, durable stone slabs.
In contrast, the kitchen area itself is made entirely of durable stainless steel for maximum longevity, durability, and excellent hygiene.

Quality of Workmanship and Materials

Every piece of furniture and every component was crafted with an emphasis on precision and long-term durability. The chairs are made of solid wood with a wear-resistant finish that ensures they retain their aesthetic appeal even with heavy daily use. The tables feature sturdy metal bases with a matte black finish, which provide stability and create a visual contrast with the wooden tabletops.

The ergonomic design of the chairs was conceived with the comfort of guests in mind, who spend time in the dining room during lunch breaks, work meetings, and informal gatherings. The contoured backrests and seats provide comfortable seating without unnecessary bulk, allowing for efficient use of space.

Interior Design Elements

The dining room’s interior features a number of striking design elements that give the space a unique identity with a direct connection to the city of Liberec.

Large-scale wall murals depicting Liberec’s iconic symbols—the white tiger from the local zoo and the historic Liberec City Hall building—create a strong sense of local identity for the space. A slatted wooden ceiling in a warm shade complements the overall atmosphere and improves the space’s acoustics. The combination of upholstered banquet seating along the walls with freestanding tables and chairs offers guests flexibility and varying levels of privacy.
